Call to Worship 1 (based on Psalm 112:4-9)
Firm up your hearts! Secure them in the Lord!
God steadies our hearts and overcomes our fears.
It is well to be generous and just,
A triumph for God’s righteousness.
Stand up against darkness! Show compassion and mercy.
Righteousness stands forever!
Call to Worship 2
Come, people of God, gather in the name of Jesus--
the One who dwells not in places of power but among the poor and forgotten.
We come to worship the Christ who walks with the vulnerable,
and who listens to the cries of the suffering.
Let us open our eyes, soften our hearts, and lift our voices.
We are here to be awakened by grace,
to be transformed by mercy,
and to encounter the living Christ in the least of these.
Unison Prayer
Ever-present God, true worship is less about location and more about action – serving others in your name. What is it you want to show us through service? What is it you want us to see as we serve others? We are here to attend to your commands. Show us. Help us see. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
God of sheep and goats, today we offer what we hope will help give food to the famished, drink to the dehydrated, welcome to the wayward, clothing for the cold, salve for the sick, and presence for the prisoner. Let it be so according to Jesus’ name. Amen.
